SA botong 284-0, inaprubahan ng Kamara de Representantes ang panukala na makatutulong sa pagtugon sa epekto ng climate change sa bansa.

Aamyendahan ng House Bill (HB) No. 7754, ang Sec. 43 ng Presidential Decree No. 705 o ang “Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines” upang mapaikli ang paghihintay para muling mataniman ng puno ang mga inabandonang fishpond.

Mula sa limang taon ay gagawin na lamang itong tatlong taon.

“This measure also aims to address the ill effects of climate change by actively promoting reforestation in areas that can be planted with trees. Instead of remaining an idle asset, these abandoned or unutilized fishponds can now be used to help in efforts to safeguard and protect the environment,” sabi ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

Inaatasan ng panukala ang Department of Agriculture at Department of Environment and Natural Resources na maglabas ng guidelines para sa implementasyon ng panukala.

Ang panukala ay inihain nina Agusan del Sur Reps. Alfelito “Alfel” M. Bascug at Eddiebong Plaza, at Bulacan Rep. Linabelle Ruth Villarica.

Ang House Committee on Natural Resources na pinamumunuan ni Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga ang tumalakay sa panukala.
