SINIMULAN na noong Lunes ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ang 30-minute ‘Heat Stroke Break Policy” para sa mga enforcers at street sweepers upang maprotektahan ang kanilang kalusugan.

Ang 30-minute heat stroke break ay ipinatutupad bilang proteksyon sa mga nakatalaga nilang tauhan sa labas na prone sa mga sakit dahil bilad sa araw at nalalanghap ang mga alikabok, mikrobyo, bacteria, usok at buga ng tambutso.

Namigay sina MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes at General Manager Nicolas Torre III ang ng galung-galong inuming tubig, insulated na water canister at reusable water bottle sa mga MMDA personnel upang itaguyod ang pananagutan sa kapaligiran sa tulong ng Maynilad at Manila Water.

“All MMDA satellite offices will be provided with water for our field personnel. It is estimated that around 4,000 traffic enforcers will benefit from this initiative.

This will help ensure the health and wellness of all our field officers while also making sure that they will still be able to effectively perform their duties on the road,” pahayag ni MMDA General Manager Torre.

Nilinaw ni Chairman Artes na ang 30-minutong heat stroke break ay pwede pang mapalawig ng 15 minuto kapag ang heat index sa Metro Manila ay aabot ng 40 degrees Celsius pataas.
