Sa mediacon for his upcoming concert “The King 4Ever” kamakailan ay naitanong namin kay Martin ang highest and lowest points sa kanyang career of four decades.

Aniya, ang highest point ay hindi pa nagaganap.

“Highest is coming. It hasn’t’ happened yet. Feeling ko, pinaka-highest moment of my career, I would like to believe, hasn’t arrived yet. Kasi after that, wala na,” aniya.

Pero kung papipiliin siya ng isa sa high moments of his career, it would be his very first concert at the Folk Arts Theater in 1983.

As for the lowest, Martin recalled his big decision to perform for a brand-new show in Las Vegas in 2007.

“I told my ‘ASAP’ Kapamilya that I’m gonna be leaving. I was all in with this Vegas thing until it exploded in my face,” aniya.

It turned out that the show was a scam at hindi nagbayad ang producer ng mga pinagkakautangan nito. Napakaraming tao raw ang nagreklamo at gusto pa siyang idemanda.

“That was really a bad time. I just had a baby who was not even one month, two months old and moved in to a bigger house, I changed my car to a nicer car. I even put a pool in my house.

“I didn’t need any of these things, but I thought I was gonna be a big Las Vegas star, a millionaire, so I was spending money I didn’t have,” kwento niya.

Nagsimula na raw siyang magbenta ng mga gamit niya para i-finance ang kanyang shows at ang kanyang banda and he hoped na may producer na magsasalba sa kanila.

Hanggang sa dumating sa puntong wala na siyang maibenta.

Bumalik siya sa Pilipinas na isang talunan pero sobrang laki ng pasasalamat niya na tinanggap siyang muli ng “ASAP” at ng buong industriya.

“I came back to the Philippines with my tail between my legs and they accepted me back on ‘ASAP.’ I didn’t have to say anything, I didn’t have to explain, I didn’t have to cry on TV, no one asked any questions. And now, I’m still here,” sey ni Martin.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Up to this date, si Martin pa rin ang nag-iisang Concert King ng Pilipinas.
