𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗨𝗦𝗨𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚 ni 1-TAHANAN Party List Rep. Nathaniel Oducado na maibaba sa 6% imbes na 12% ang Value Added Tax (VAT) na ipinapataw sa presyo ng kuryente.

Binanggit ni Oducado na batay sa pag-aaral ng Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), ang ipinapataw umanong buwis sa kuryente ang isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit ang presyo nito ang isa sa pinaka-mahal sa Asya kasunod ang Singapore at Japan.

“A complete VAT removal would cost the government an estimated P187 billion annually, whereas a 50% reduction to 6% VAT would cost P93.5 billion,” ayon kay Oducado.

Pagbibigay diin pa ng kongresista na ang mataas na singil ng kuryente ang isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit maraming potensiyal na investors ang nag-aalinlangan mamuhunan sa bansa.

“Business groups such as the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. have previously expressed support for legislative measures to reduce or exempt VAT on electricity sales,” wika pa nito.
