BINIGYAN ng executive clemency ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. si dating Iloilo City mayor Jed Mabilog.

“Yes, that’s true,” sagot ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin sa tanong kung ginarawan ng executive clemency ang dating mayor.

“In view of former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog’s long standing commitment to good governance, coupled with awards and recognition received by Iloilo City under his leadership, the President granted Mabilog’s petition for executive clemency in connection with his administrative case, thereby removing the penalties or disabilities resulting from such case,” dagdag ni Bersamin.

Oktubre 23, 2017 nang magpalabas ng desisyon ang Ombudsman na dismiss sa serbisyo si Mabilog dahil sa kasong paglabag sa section 3 (h) ng Republic Act No. 3019 o Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Nag-ugat ang kaso sa isinampang serious dishonesty at conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service ni dating Iloilo Provincial Administrator Manuel Mejorada.

Kinukwestyun ni Mejorada ang paglobo ng yaman ni Mabilog ng mahigit P 8.9 milyon sa loob lamang ng isang taon.

Dahil sa executive clemency, sinabi ni Bersamin na balik na ang karapatan ni Mabilog na sumabak muli sa mundo ng pulitika.

Idinawit din ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Mabilog sa kontrobersiyal na narcolist noong 2016.
