SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, a prominent health reforms crusader, has solidified his standing as a top senatorial contender, ranking 3rd to 4th in the latest Pulse Asia survey conducted from November 26 to December 3.
Go’s awareness rating surged to 99%, while his voting preference climbed to 54.7%, a significant rise from 40.3% in September. His trust rating and performance ratings also improved compared to the previous quarter.
“Malaking pasasalamat ko sa mga kababayan natin na patuloy ang suporta at tiwala. Isa lang ang layunin ko: magserbisyo at makatulong sa kapwa ko Pilipino sa abot ng aking makakaya,” Go stated, emphasizing his gratitude for the public’s trust and his dedication to service.
Go’s legislative accomplishments this year and over recent years have solidified his reputation as a public servant focused on bringing services closer to Filipinos particularly in health, youth, sports and disaster resilience, among others.
“Ang resulta ng mga survey na ito ay inspirasyon para sa akin na patuloy na magtrabaho para sa kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan. Ang tiwala na ibinibigay sa akin ay isang responsibilidad na kailangang tapatan ng patuloy na serbisyong may tunay na malasakit,” Senator Go stated.
So far, Go has authored 16 laws, principally sponsored 80 laws including 78 measures for the establishment or upgrade of public hospitals, and co-authored or co-sponsored 185 other laws.
Among his most notable contributions is Republic Act No. 11463, also known as the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which he principally authored and sponsored. This law institutionalized the Malasakit Centers program, with 166 centers now operational across the country, providing critical assistance to over 15 million Filipinos.
Building on this, Go also played a key role in the enactment of Republic Act No. 11959, the Regional Specialty Centers Act as principal sponor and one of its authors. The law mandates the establishment of regional specialty centers within Department of Health (DOH) regional hospitals, improving access to specialized medical services.
Go’s efforts extend beyond health. He recently principally authored and co-sponsored Republic Act No. 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which mandates the establishment of fully-equipped, dedicated evacuation centers nationwide. Signed into law on December 6, this measure aims to protect families displaced by natural disasters.
Additionally, Go co-authored and co-sponsored Republic Act No. 12077, the Student Loan Payment Moratorium During Disasters and Emergencies Act. This law provides temporary financial relief to students with outstanding loans during calamities, a testament to his focus on alleviating the burdens of crises on vulnerable sectors.
Senator Go’s improved survey rankings mirror his tireless efforts to address the needs of the Filipino people. In PUBLiCUS Asia Inc.’s PAHAYAG 2024 End-of-the-Year Survey conducted from November 29 to December 3, Go topped the unaided voting preference category among senatorial aspirants and rose to fourth place in the aided voting preference, up from fifth place in October.
Other surveys also underscore his strong standing. The Issues and Advocacy Center’s Pulso ng Pilipino Fourth Quarter Pre-Poll Survey, conducted from November 5 to December 1, placed him fifth with 46.5% voter preference. In Tangere’s nationwide survey from November 6 to 9, Go ranked third with a solid 50.13% voter preference.
Go’s performance in 2024 and even previous years reflect his steadfast focus on the welfare of Filipinos being known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
