KUMPIYANSA si Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez na mananatiling masigla ang ekonomiya ng bansa sa kabila ng global slowdown bunsod ng mga hakbang na inilatag ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. upang ma-enganyo ang mga dayuhang mamumuhunan sa bansa.

Sa kanyang mensahe sa Forum on Legislative Reforms for the Philippine Capital Market ng Philippine Stock Exchange sa Bonifacio Global City, binanggit ni Speaker Romualdez ang mga repormang ginawa para mahikayat ang mga dayuhang negosyante na mamuhunan sa bansa.

“While factors such as the global economic slowdown and external environments have posed challenges, the resilience and adaptability of our economy persist. For context, our growth this year is anticipated to surpass that of nations like Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

Bagamat binawasan umano ng World Bank ang inaasahang paglago ng GDP ng bansa, ang projection na 5.6 porsyento ay nananatiling kapuri-puri.

“The World Bank has recently projected the Philippines to be the fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia this year,” sabi ni Romualdez.

Ayon sa forecast ng World Bank sa 2025 ang average na paglago ng GDP ng bansa ay 5.7 porsyento na palalakasin ng pagtaas ng domestic demand at pagbaba ng inflation.

“This speaks volumes about the latent potential within our economy and capital markets as we endeavor to achieve our ambitious target growth rate of 6-7%,” dagdag pa nito.

Ang mga pagbabago sa batas gaya ng pag-amyenda sa Public Service Act, kung saan pinapayagan na ang mga dayuhan na mamuhunan sa ilang sektor gaya ng telecommunication at airline ay isa umanong malaking hakbang upang maenganyo ang mga mamumuhunan sa bansa.

Tinukoy din ni Speaker Romualdez ang iba pang inisyatiba ng Kongreso gaya ng Foreign Investment Act, Retail Trade Liberalization Act, amyenda sa Build-Operate-Transfer/Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Act, Fiscal Regime for the Mining Industry Act, at Passive Income and Financial Intermediary Taxation Act (PIFITA) na naglalayong mas maenganyo ang mga mamumuhunan sa bansa.

“Implementing comprehensive financial and taxation reform is crucial. It will attract investments, spur employment, and ensure consistent government revenue streams. Our vision is to cultivate an economy that is inclusive, innovative, and highly competitive,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.

Inamin naman ni Speaker Romualdez na nananatiling hamon sa inaasahang paglago ng ekonomiya ang bilis ng pagtaas ng bilihin, na ayon sa World Bank ay maga-average na 5.9% ngayong taon.

“Yet, the silver lining is the expectation that it will ease to 3.6% by 2024 and further to 3% by 2025,” sabi pa nito/

Hinikayat din ni Speaker Romualdez ang Capital Market Community na tignan ang Maharlika Investment Fund.

“I encourage our revered guests and esteemed partners to explore this investment opportunity, a venture that signifies shared growth and mutual advancement, propelling our nation towards an era of unparalleled economic renaissance,” sabi pa nito.

Bukod sa mga panukalang batas, sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na nananatili pa rin ang pagnanais ng administrasyon na maamyendahan ang economic provisions ng Konstitusyon upang mas maging bukas ang ekonomiya ng bansa sa mga mamumuhunan.

“The House has already approved Resolution of Both Houses 6 and House Bill 7352, designed to relieve the constraints of restrictive economic provisions and open the doors to boundless opportunities and holistic growth,” sabi ni Speaker.

“Our peers, such as Vietnam and Indonesia, have demonstrated the transformative power of embracing foreign direct investments, benefiting from enhanced job creation and infrastructural advancement, facets we need to strengthen,” punto pa nito.

Sinabi ni Romualdez na nakalulungkot na ang mahigpit na regulasyon na inilagay dati upang maproteksyunan ang bansa ay siya ring nakapigil sa paglago nito.

Ayon sa lider ng Kamara ang pagbabago sa Konstitusyon ay simbolo ng pagbabago ng economic landscaping bansa upang maabot ang potensyal nitong pag-unlad.

“Let us unite our visions, our ambitions, and our efforts to sculpt a Philippine economy that is dynamic, inclusive, and innovative. Let us work together to realize the holistic development of our nation and ensure that every Filipino enjoys the fruits of our collective labor,” dagdag pa ni Romualdez.
