PINURI ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa pagkakatalaga kay Police Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III bilang bagong hepe ng Philippine National Police (PNP), na isang “no-nonsense leader” na may tapang, integridad, at kakayahang pamunuan ang kapulisan sa isang kritikal na panahon.

“General Torre is stepping into this role with a record that speaks for itself. He is a principled and fearless officer, the kind of leader the PNP needs to restore credibility, enforce the law without fear or favor, and protect the Filipino people with professionalism and respect,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

Sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na sa kabila ng matinding pagsubaybay ng publiko at political pressure ay nanatiling matatag si Torre sa pagpapatupad ng batas at pagsasagawa ng mga sensitibong operasyon.

“General Torre’s steady hand in critical situations shows he is not only unafraid to act, but also committed to doing so within the bounds of the law. That kind of leadership is rare, and exactly what the police force needs today,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

Binigyang-diin ng pinuno ng Kamara na mayroong 306 na miyembro na ang pagkakatalaga kay Torre ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ay nagpapakita ng matinding panawagan para sa institusyonal na reporma sa PNP kasunod ng paulit-ulit na panawagan para sa internal cleansing at modernisasyon nito.

“With General Torre at the helm, the PNP gains a chief who understands the urgency of reform from within, but who also brings the operational experience to crack down on crime, dismantle syndicates, and restore public trust,” dagdag ni Speaker Romualdez.

Si Torre, miyembro ng Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1993, ay dati nang humawak ng mga mahahalagang posisyon sa PNP gaya ng pagiging district director ng Quezon City Police District at regional operations head ng National Capital Region Police Office. Kilala siya sa pagiging bukas sa publiko at sa malinis niyang pamamalakad.

Sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na handang tumulong ang Kamara sa pamunuan ni Torre sa pamamagitan ng pagpasa ng mga kinakailangang mga batas at pondo upang epektibong maisakatuparan ng PNP ang tungkulin nito.
