MULING tiniyak ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang pagsuporta ng Kamara de Representantes sa pagpapatuloy ng modernisasyon ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Sinamahan ni Speaker Romualdez si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. sa demostrasyon ng kakayanan ng Philippine Navy sa San Antonio, Zambales habang lulan ng BRP Davao del Sur (LD602).

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to support the continuing modernization program of the AFP, to ensure it has the resources and expertise it needs to protect our people and defend our nation’s territorial integrity and sovereignty,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez.

“The House of Representatives will work closely with the administration of President Marcos to achieve the objectives of the AFP Modernization Program,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso.

Ang unang yugto ng AFP modernization program o Horizon 1 ay ipinatupad mula 2013 hanggang 2017, ang Horizon 2 ay mula 2018 hanggang 2022, at ang Horizon 3 ay mula 2023 hanggang 2028.

Nagsumite na ang AFP ng pagbabago sa plano nitong bilhing armas kaugnay ng modernization program at isinumite na ito kay Pangulong Marcos.

Ayon kay Speaker Romualdez mahalaga ang modernisasyon ng AFP, partikular ang Philippine Navy upang mabantayan ang teritoryo ng bansa.

Kumpiyansa si Speaker Romualdez na mas matutugunan ng Philippine Navy ang mandato nito sa pag-unlad ng kakayanan nito.

“I commend the Philippine Navy for its hard work and dedication. I was also impressed by the professionalism and dedication of the Navy’s personnel, who are clearly committed to protecting our country,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

Nagpasalamat din si Speaker Romualdez sa Philippine Navy sa pag-imbita sa kanya sa demonstrasyon.

“It was a privilege to see firsthand the progress that the Philippine Navy has made, and I am confident that they will continue to be a valuable asset to our nation,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.
