Mga smuggler pinakakasuhan sa BOC 

PINAKAKASUHAN ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa Bureau of Customs (BoC) ang mga rice smuggler, kasama ang kanilang mga kasabwat sa pagpuslit ng libu-libong sako ng bigas na iligal na ipinasok sa mga pantalan sa Mindanao.

Ginawa ni Speaker Romualdez ang apela kasabay ng paghahayag ito ng suporta sa naging desisyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na ipamigay ang mga nasabat na smuggled na bigas sa libong residente ng Zamboanga peninsula.

Pinangunahan ni Pangulong Marcos kasama ang ilan pang opisyal ng gobyerno sa pamimigay ng bigas noong Martes.

“We, in the House of Representatives, firmly stand with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his initiative to distribute premium quality rice to the 4Ps beneficiaries in Zamboanga City with his instruction to the National Food Authority to increase its buying price for palay,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

“This significant gesture demonstrates more than just an act of generosity; it underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing the needs of our people, especially during challenging times,” wika pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

“I congratulate the Bureau of Customs and other concerned agencies for a job well done. But they should not stop at confiscating rice and other products smuggled into the country. These offices should file charges against the smugglers immediately,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara na may 311 miyembro.

Ipinunto ni Speaker Romualdez na hangga’t hindi naparurusahan o nakukulong ang mga nasa likod ng smuggling ay magpapatuloy ang iligal na gawain ng mga ito kahit pa nakumpiska ng gobyerno ang kanilang mga naipuslit.

“Furthermore, this initiative solidifies our collective stance against the activities of hoarders, smugglers, and those who unscrupulously manipulate the prices of rice and other essential commodities,” saad pa ng House Speaker.

Bilang kinatawan ng publiko, sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na trabaho ng mga mambabatas na tiyakin na mayroong sapat na suplay ng kanilang pangunahing pangangailangan na abot-kaya ang halaga.

“Our mission goes beyond legislation; it encompasses the very essence of public service — to safeguard and enhance the lives of our constituents. We are fully committed to working closely with the Executive branch and other relevant agencies in fortifying measures against these illicit activities,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

“By doing so, we aim to protect our nation’s food security, stabilize our economy, and ensure that the fruits of our nation’s growth are felt by every Filipino. Together, with unity of purpose and a clear vision for the future, we will strive to build a nation where prosperity is shared and where every Filipino is given the opportunity to thrive,” dagdag pa ng lider ng Kamara.

Ayon kay Port of Zamboanga District Collector Arthur Sevilla ang ipinamigay na bigas ng Pangulo ay bahagi ng 42,180 sako ng bigas na nagkakahalaga ng P44 milyon na nakumpiska ng BOC noong Mayo.

Sinabi ni Sevilla na ang pagkumpiska at pamimigay ng nakumpiskang bigas ay dokumentado.
