TINAWAG ng dalawang kongresista sa Davao region na “action man” si Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez dahil sa mabilis nitong pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng kanilang constituents, partikular sa panahon ng kalamidad.

Bilib sina Davao de Oro 1st District Rep. Maria Carmen S. Zamora at Davao Oriental 2nd District Rep. Cheeno Miguel D. Almario sa pambihirang malasakit na ipinapakita ni Speaker Romualdez sa mga kasapi ng Kamara Representantes upang tugunan ang ibat-ibang hinaing ng mga tao sa kanilang nasasakupan.

Ibinaliktanaw ni Zamora na agarang nagpadala ng tulong at maging ng personal na ayuda si Speaker Romualdez nang maapektuhan ang kanilang lalawigan ng serye ng lindol at maging pagbaha.

“Isang text at tawag lang kay Speaker Romualdez, nandiyan na kaagad ang tulong kasama ang kanyang personal na ayuda para sa aming lugar na naapektuhan ng mga lindol at pagbaha. Action man talaga si Speaker Martin,” ani Zamora.

“Salamat Speaker Romualdez sa iyong malasakit para sa aming constituents na nangangailangan ng tulong sa panahon ng kagipitan,” dagdag ni Zamora.

Sa panig ni Almario, sinabi nitong mapalad siyang maging kasapi ng 19th Congress sa ilalim ng liderato ni Speaker Romualdez dahil hindi lamang produktibo ang pamumuno nito kundi parehas sa kanilang lahat ng mga kasamahan.

“I am very lucky to experience the excellent leadership of Speaker Romualdez. I had the opportunity to see the leadership styles of other Speakers during the stint of my father (former Davao Oriental Rep. Joel Mayo Z. Almario) and grandmother (former Davao Oriental Rep. Thelma Z. Almario), magaling talaga si Speaker Romualdez. He has been very efficient and fair to us,” ani Almario.

Sinabi naman ni Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, chairman ng House Committee on Dangerous Drugs, na walang duda na magtutuloy-tuloy ang magandang performance ng Kamara de Representantes sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Speaker Romualdez.

Ayon kay Barbers, nailatag na ni Speaker Romualdez ang pundasyon ng 19th Congress na nagresulta sa magandang ipinakita ng Kamara de Representantes.

Ebidensya umano dito ang mga mahahalagang panukalang batas na agad na pinag-aralan at inaprubahan ng Kamara.

“The measures the House approved during the First Regular Session have both quality and quantity. Quality, because the chamber passed 33 out of the 42 priority bills of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. as listed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC); and quantity, because the chamber was able to process 30 measures per session day, and this was 10 percent more than what the previous Congress did,” ani Barbers, isang stalwart ng Nacionalista Party (NP).

“The House will continue to perform at this pace for the rest of the 19th Congress. Speaker Romualdez knows that time is of the essence, that’s why he can easily tune out from all the political noise. We will follow his lead,” sabi pa ni Barbers.

Bago nagsara ang unang regular session ng 19th Congress noong nakaraang buwan ay natapos na ang Kamara de Representantes ang 577 panukalang batas.

Sinabi ni Barbers na hindi maitatanggi na si Speaker Romualdez ang siyang pinagkakatiwalaan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at kailangan umano ng administrasyon ng tulong upang maabot ang minimithi nitong “Agenda for Prosperity”.

“A lot is riding on the work of government. In fact there are over 31 million who bought into the President’s notion of a better and more comfortable life. This promise will come to fruition if the legislature and executive continues to tread a united path,” dagdag pa ni Barbers.
