Tri-Comm nag-isyu ng SCO vs Atty. Trixie, socmed influencers
INAPRUBAHAN ng House tri-committee ang pagpapalabas ng show cause order (SCO) sa social media personalities, kabilang si dating Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) chief Trixie Cruz-Angeles, na hindi sumipot sa pagdinig kaugnay ng fake news at online disinformation.
Sinimulan ng tri-comm, na binubuo ng House committees on public order and safety, information and communications technology, at public Iinformation, ang public hearing na naglalayong makabuo ng regulasyon para sa social media upang matugunan ang isyu ng fake news at misinformation.
Naglabas din ang komite ng SCO laban kina Elizabeth Joie Cruz na kilala online bilang Joie De Vivre, Krizette Lauretta Chu, Mark Anthony Lopez, Jun Abines Jr., Dr. Richard Tesoro Mata, Aaron Peña, Suzanne Batalla (IamShanwein) at Ethel Pineda.
Si Manila Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante ay naghain ng mosyon upang maglabas ang komite ng SCO laban kay Cruz. “I therefore make a motion, Mr. Chair, that we issue a show cause order on this Elizabeth Cruz,” aniya. Inaprubahan ang mosyon.
Naghain naman si Abang Lingkod Party-list Rep. Joseph Stephen “Caraps” Paduano ng mosyon upang maglabas ng SCO laban kay Abines dahil hindi umano katanggap-tanggap ang excuse letter nito.
“With that excuse letter, Mr. Chairman, I found it not valid and I move to issue a show cause order for that Jun,” sabi ni Paduano.
Naglabas din ng SCO laban kay Lopez na hindi rin sumipot at kinuwestyon ang legal na basehan sa pagdinig.
Sumulat din si Chu upang kuwestyunin ang legal na basehan ng pagdinig.
Bukod sa SCO, hiniling ni Paduano sa komite na makipag-ugnayan sa legal department ng Kamara upang malaman kung maaaring maghain ng disbarment case laban kay Cruz-Angeles.
“Is she a lawyer?” tanong ni Paduano. “Mr. Chairman, I have two motions. My motion is to issue a show cause order to Atty. Trixie Angeles.”
“She is an officer of the court… and she should respect the Constitutional duty of Congress. I respectfully move that we will consult the Legal Department of this House for a possible disbarment case against Atty. Trixie Angeles,” dagdag pa ni Paduano.
Sa sulat ni Peña sa komite, sinabi nito na wala siyang kaugnayan sa operator ng Philippine offshore gaming operation (POGO) o drug lord. Hindi naman nakumbinsi si Paduano sa paliwanag ni Peña kaya hiniling nito ang paglalabas ng SCO laban sa blogger.
