HIHINGIN ng Department of Health (DOH) ang tulong ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) upang mahabol ang mga pekeng celebrity endorsement sa mga hindi rehistradong pagkain at gamot na ikinakalat sa social media.

Ayon kay Health Secretary Ted Herbosa ang Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ang inatasan na humabol sa pekeng pag-endorso ng mga sikat na personalidad upang maenganyo ang publiko na tangkilikin ang produkto na hindi tiyak ang kaligtasan.

“Many of my friends, doctor friends who are popular and especially have been victimized for a drug that they did not endorse using their photos taken out of social media – and these are really the scammers. So, this is under the realm—in DOH, this is under the realm of the FDA – they are a regulatory agency with police powers,” ani Herbosa.

“So I think our—I’ll instruct the head of FDA, si Sam Zacate to actually coordinate with the NBI to really get to the bottom of this,” sabi pa ng kalihim sa isinagawang press briefing sa Malacañang.

Ayon kay Herbosa naghain na rin sina Dr. Willie Ong at Dr. Tony Leachon ng reklamo sa Cybercrime Division ng NBI kaugnay ng hindi otorisadong paggamit sa kanilang mga litrato upang palabasin na mayroon silang iniendorsong produkto.
