SINIMULAN na ang paggawa ng elevated turnback guideway ng itinatayong Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) sa West Avenue, Quezon City.

Isang ground breaking ceremony ang isinagawa ng Department of Transportation (DOTr), San Miguel Corporation, at lokal na pamahalaan ng Quezon City para sa pre-construction work ng turnback guideway noong Abril 14.

Ayon kay Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette B. Aquino ang turnback guideway ang mekanismo na kailangan upang makapunta ang tren sa kabilang direksyon kapag nasa North Triangle Common Station na ito sa North Avenue.

“This portion of the alignment is critical to ensuring that train services would remain on schedule across the entire alignment from North Avenue to San Jose del Monte,” sabi ni Asec. Aquino.

Pinuri ni Asec. Aquino ang Quezon City government sa inisyatiba nito na baguhin ang disenyo ng West Avenue para sa pagtatayo ng turnback guideway.

“This pre-construction works’ program will guarantee the least possible disruption in the travel experience of both pedestrians and road users along West Avenue while the MRT 7 infrastructure is in place,” dagdag pa ng opisyal ng DOTr.

Ang MRT-7 ay mayroong 14 na istasyon at bibiyahe mula sa San Jose del Monte sa Bulacan hanggang sa North Avenue sa Quezon City. Ang biyahe ay tatagal lamang ng 35 minuto na mas mabilis sa 2 hanggang 3 oras na biyahe sa kalsada.
