BUMOTO nitong Martes ang committee on legislative franchises ng Kamara de Representantes na wakasan na ang pribilehiyong mag-broadcast ang Swara Sug Media Corp. na kilala rin bilang Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI).

Sa pagtatapos ng ika-anim na pagdinig sa diumano’y paglabag ng SMNI sa congressional franchise, ang committee na pinangungunahan ni Parañaque Rep. Gus Tambuing ay nagdesisyon na iendorso sa plenary ang pag-aprub sa House Bill (HB) No. 9710 na sinulat ni Rep. Rodge Gutierrez ng 1-RIDER party-list, na hinihiniling na wakasan na ang prangkisa ng nasabing network.

Iminungkahi ni committee vice chairman and Surigao del Norte Rep. Johnny Pimentel na tapusin na ang pagdinig at aprubahan na ang nasabing panukalang batas.

Sinabi ni Pimentel na anim na pagdinig na ang ginawa ng panel mula sa huling parte ng 2023. “All arguments and issues have been exhaustively discussed. And we have established violations by Swara Sug of at least four sections of its franchise – Sections 4, 10, 11, and 12,” aniya.

Dagdag pa niya na ang broadcasting network na iniuugnay kay Pastor Apollo Quiboloy ay lumabag sa “Section 4 on its responsibility to be truthful and accurate in its broadcasting.”

“They violated Section 10, which requires them to obtain the permission of Congress before any change in ownership,” sabi ni Pimentel.

Pinuna ni. Pimentel na noong 2020, inireport ng Swara Sug sa Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) na 95 percent nito ay pagmamay-ari ng Kingdom of Jesus Christ ni Quiboloy.

Noong 2022, inilipat ng Swara Sug ang 46 percent ng pag-aari nito sa ibang entity na hindi umano kumuha ng congressional approval, ayon kay Pimentel.

“They should have offered at least 30 percent to Filipinos. After 29 years, not one share of stock was offered. Klarong-Klaro po ang violations nila. On this note, I move that we approve Bill No. 9710 on the termination of Swara Sug’s legislative franchise,” sinabi ni. Pimentel sa Tambunting committee.

Ang motion ni Pimentel ay sinegundahan ni Bulacan Rep. Augustina Dominique Pancho.

Dahil sa walang tumutol, dineklara ni Tambunting na aprub ang panukalang batas.

Umapela naman ang abogado ng SMNI na si Mark Tolentino sa committee na basahin ang position paper sa Bill No. 9710.

“How could you expect us to reproduce it and give all members a copy? November pa pinag-uusapan na natin ito, tapos magsu-submit kayo ng position paper 30 minutes before the hearing? That’s truly unfair. Anyway, your position paper was just a reproduction of what you have told us during our six hearings, and it is noted,” ang sagot ni Tambunting kay Tolentino.

Inatasan na din ni Tambunting ang committee secretary na bigyan ang mga panel members at lahat ng miyembro ng Kamara ng kopya ng position paper ng Swara Sug.
