Castillon: Alumni bahagi ng tagumpay ng ERJHS

HINDI na matatawaran ang mga nakamit na tagumpay ng mga alumni ng E. Rodriguez Jr. High School mula sa iba’t ibang larangan

Ito ang pinagdiinan ni dating St. Dominic Savio College of Law Dean Atty. Egmedio Castillon, Jr. sa nakalipas na gabi ng parangal para sa “10 Most Outstanding Alumni” ng ERJHS sa taong 2025 sa ERJHS quadrangle sa Mayon Ave., Quezon City nung Feb.22.

“Yoyong as an institution has already gone great lengths and distance in garnering achievements and accolades too numerous to be cited and produced successful alumni too many to be named.

And Yoyong’s accomplishments and successes continue up to now,” pahayag ni Castillon sa kanyang acceptance speech para sa lahat ng “10 Most Outstanding Alumni.”

“The awardees, who come from different fields and areas of interests, speak for themselves how Yoyong yielded good, responsible and socially-relevant citizens,” paliwanag pa ni Castillon, na nagpasalamat kina ERJHS Principal Ernest Ferrer, ERJHS Alumni Association President Ramon Ferreros at ERJHS Awards Committee chairman Ed Andaya para sa tagumpay ng ERJHS 73rd Foundation Day at Grand Alumni Homecoming.

Bukod kay Castillon, kabilang din sa “10 Most Outstanding Alumni” awardees sina Elisa Gabagat-Manguiat ng Batch 62 (public service), Jose Omila ng Batch 65 (performing arts), Dr. Cynthia Tuason Guevarra ng Batch 67 (medicine), Marilou de Jesus Francisco ng Batch 68 (mass communication), Florinda Yuson Yee ng Batch 69 (public service), Fernando Modesto ng Batch 70 (arts and culture), Dr. Zenaida Yangco Bernardino ng Batch 73 (medicine), Bernadette Manahan Sta. Maria ng Batch 75 (arts and culture), at Cynthia Montenegro Reyes ng Batch 77 (government service).

Nabigyan naman ng posthumous awards sina B/Gen Orlando O. Yebra, Jr. ng Batch 84 at P/Lt. Benjamin Tapeño of Batch 85.

Sina Ferreros, Andaya at Ferrer ang nanguna para sa seven-man board of jury, na masusing namili ng mga awardees.

Kasama nila sina veteran journalist-book author Nestor Cuartero ng Manila Bulletin/The Market Monitor; former principal Gina L. Obierna; former faculty member Atty. Felipe Favila at faculty member Dante Ballesteros.

Ang 10 awardees ay makakasama ng frst batch ng “Most Outstanding Alumni, na pinarangalan last year: Philippine Navy Commodore Albert Mogol ng Batch 78 (military service), Ramon Ferreros ng Batch 73 (business), Tany Joe “TJ” Calalay ng Batch 95 (public service), Sct. Roberto Castor at Castor family (scouting), Lorenzo sisters (education), Jess Asistin ng Batch 76 (public service), Ed Andaya g Batch 81 (journalism), Eric David of Batch 71 (community service), Philippine National Police Lt. Col. Emmanuel Gomez ng Batch 88 (law enforcement and order) at dating Bureau of Fire Protection Chief Gen. Enrique Linsangan of Batch 69 (public service/posthumous).

Naging bahagi din ng pagdiriwang ang Hawaiian-inspired Alumni Night tampok ang live performances ng Cool Rhythm Band ni Jay Tuangco ng Batch 87; ang ERJHS Alumni Sports Club “Battle of the Generations” basketball tournament; ang “Learn and Play Chess” Simultaneous Exhibition Matches nina IMs Angelo Young at Idelfonso Datu, NM Edmundo Gatus at Chiara Datu; at Batch 76 Zumba event na itinaguyod ni Quezon City District 1 Councilor Nikki Crisologo.

Ang two-day event ay bahagi ng paghahanda ng ERJHSAA para sa kanilang Diamond Anniversary celebrations sa February, 2027.
