ORANI, Bataan–Magtutulungan sa pagbibigay ng formal and non-formal education, skills training at livelihood ng mga daang-daan na Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) sa Bataan ang Bureau of Jail Management and Penology sa pangunguna ni Chief Inspector Cliff Richard Torres, provincial warden, at Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) na pinamumunuan ni Dr. Ruby B. Santos-Matibag.

Sinabi ni Major Torres na ang mga PDLs habang nasa detention sila ay kumikita na ng pera dahil may mga produkto sila sa loob ng piitan samantalang ang mga iba ay nag aaral naman.

“There around 60 PDL students and some have graduated for various courses in Bachelor of science degrees and various vocational courses,” paliwanag ni Major Torres.

Ayon kay Major Torres, may 15 PDLs na kumukuha ng college courses, 15 ang senior high school, 15 ang junior high school at 10 elementary students na kasalukuyang nag aaral sa loob ng BJPM.

Sinabi ni Torres na ang papel ni Dr. Matibag ay major role sa pagpapataas ng moral at spirit ng mga PDLs dahil ang BPSU nagme-maintain ng mental health clinic at behavioral science sa mga bilanggo na umabot na ngayon ng 549.

“I wanted to express my deepest thanks to Dr. Ruby Matibag for her encouragement and support and the PDLs here are so lucky to have her in their lives.

Dr. Matibag’s guidance and expertise have made a significant impact on the life of the PDLs here,” sabi ng ng Ilocanong provincial warden.

Si Dr. Ruby Matibag ay recipient ng Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award noong September 18, 2024 na ginanap sa Malacañang Palace at mismong si President Marcos ang nag abot ng award.

Pinasalamatan din ni Torres si Gov. Joet Garcia dahil ang provincial government ay nagbibigay rice subsidy sa mga PDL.
