PINURI ng isang beteranong mambabatas ang mabilis na pagproseso ng Board of Investments ng Department of Trade and Industry sa 41 foreign-funded projects sa ilalim ng administrasyong Marcos na lalong makapagpapalakas sa pag-unlad ng ekonomiya ng bansa.

“This will spur growth in our domestic market which really needs a boost at this point, where we are faced with recurring inflation not just locally but also globally as a result of Ukraine war and the conflict between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas,” ani Rep. Robert Ace Barbers.

“This is a welcome development for all of us. And this is what we all need. We thank President Marcos Jr. for doing all he can in enticing foreign direct investments to come. We also commend Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez for the support in helping make this happen,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

Ikinagalak ni Barbers, chairman ng House Committee on Dangerous Drug, ang naging report ng DTI na pagbibigay ng “green lane certification” sa 41 proyekto noong Pebrero 28 ngayong taon, na indikasyon umano na marami pang proyekto ang maaaprubahan sa ilalim ng kasalukuyang administrasyon.

Sa kabuuang 148 proyekto, 46 sa mga ito ay ginagawa na, habang ang 102 ang kasalukuyan pang nakabinbin.

“We have started the ball rolling so to speak. And all we need is just to take a pro-active stance by consistent follow ups so that these will all come into fruition. By then, we will be creating more jobs and generate more activities for the economy to boom even more,” ayon pa sa mambabatas.

Ayon pa sa mambabatas mula sa Mindanao, ang pagbibigay ng green lane certification ng BOI ay mangangahulugan na magiging simple at mabilis ang pagdaraanang proseso ng mga proyekto.

Mula sa 41 proyektong binigyan ng “green lane certification,” 20 sa mga ito ay nagpakita na ng interes sa mga nakalipas na presidential visits (ng Pangulong Marcos) o resulta rin ng mga follow-through activities, ayon kay Barbers.

“And what is most very welcome here is that the most significant countries as investment sources are Japan with 21 projects, and the US with 13 projects. They have produced the most number of projects that have already been actualized,” ayon pa sa mambabatas na mula sa ikalawang distrito ng Surigao del Norte.

Ayon kay Barbers mayroong mga foreign investors na naghahanda na rin para matupad ang may 102 investment pledges, na nagkakahalaga ng $58 bilyon, na nakuha ng administrasyong Marcos sa mga biyahe nito.
