NAGPADALA ang Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) ng fact-finding mission sa Kuwait upang tignan ang performance ng Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) roon at repasuhin ang mga nakabinbing kaso sa mga bansa sa Middle East.

Ayon kay Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople ang fact-finding mission ay bubuohin ni Undersecretary for Foreign Employment and Welfare Services Hans Cacdac at pamumunuan ng isang senior labor attaché na nakabase sa labas ng Kuwait.

“We in the department must go by an evidenced-based approach to labor reform policies. Given also the increase in deployment and welfare numbers in Kuwait last year, it is imperative that we look at the root causes behind these numbers,” sabi ni Ople.

Sinabi ni Ople na daan-libo ang mga kasambayan sa Kuwait at dapat malaman kung papaano mabibigyan ng proteksyon ang mga ito.

“Titingnan nila bakit inordinately high yung mga welfare cases natin sa Kuwait over the past several months. Titingnan din kung nagkaroon ba ng lapses on the part of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) sa pagtugon sa mga panawagan for welfare assistance among our OFWs. Yung report ng fact-finding mission will be submitted to my office for appropriate action,” paliwanag ni Ople.

Nauna ng inanunsyo ni Ople ang pagdati ng labi ni Jullebee Ranara noong Biyernes. Si Ranara ay minolestya umano ang anak ng kanyang amo, pinatay at sinunog sa disyerto sa Kuwait.
