ITINUTULAK ni OFW Party List Rep. Marissa “Del Mar” P. Magsino ang “full automation” ng Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) kasunod ang “integration” nito sa Electronic Travel (E-Travel) system para sa mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Pagbibigay diin ni Magsino na matagal na nitong isinusulong ang inisyatibang ito bilang bahagi ng kaniyang adbokasiya sapagkat ang pagtatanggal sa pagpapalabas ng magkahiwalay na OEC ay malaking tulong para sa mga OFWs.

Ipinaliwanag ng kongresista na sinimulan na ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) ang nasabing “integration” sa Bureau of Immigration (BI) kung saan hindi na kailangan pang magkaroon ng hiwalay na application ang mga OFWs para sa OEC dahil awtomatiko ng mare-recognize ng sistema ang status ng isang Migrant worker.

“The DMW is already integrated with the BI. There’s no need to apply separately for OEC when the system can recognize an OFWs status automatically. We may just need to upgrade the integration to ensure all necessary details are reflected in the BI’s system,” sabi nito.

Sabi ni Magsino na nakipagpulong din siya kay Department of Information and Technology (DICT) Under Secretary David Almirol kung saan pinag-usapan nila ang upgraded integration bilang mahalagang hakbang para sa isang modernized government service.

“Our OFWs deserve a hassle-free system that acknowledges their sacrifices and contributions to the economy. We need to make government transactions work for them, not the other way around.

This is about streamlining the process while still ensuring that the OEC remains a requirement for accountability,” wika pa ni Magsino.
