MAS matindi at kapana-panabik ang magiging bakbakan sa ikaanim na edisyon ng The EDDYS o Entertainment Editors Choice ng Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) sa taong ito.
Limang pelikulang Pilipino na nagmarka at nang-agaw ng eksena noong nakaraang taon ang maglalaban-laban.
Ang mga nominado sa kategoryang Best Film ay ang “Bakit ‘Di Mo Sabihin” ng Firestarters at Viva Films; “Blue Room” mula sa Heaven’s Best Entertainment, Eyepoppers Multimedia Service at Fusee; “Doll House” ng MavX Productions; “Family Matters” ng CineKo Productions; at “Nanahimik ang Gabi” mula sa Rein Entertainment.

Ang mga nominado naman sa pagka-Best Director ay sina Marla Ancheta (Doll House); Ma-an L. Asuncion-Dagñalan (Blue Room); Real S. Florido (Bakit ‘Di Mo Sabihin); Nuel Crisostomo Naval (Family Matters); at Shugo Praico (Nanahimik ang Gabi).

Magpapatalbugan para sa Best Actress category sina Kim Chiu (Always); Max Eigenmann (12 Weeks); Janine Guttierez (Bakit ‘Di Mo Sabihin); Nadine Lustre (Greed); Heaven Peralejo, (Nanahimik ang Gabi); at Rose Van Ginkel (Kitty K-7).

Bakbakan naman sa pagka-Best Actor sina Elijah Canlas (Blue Room); Baron Geisler (Doll House); Noel Trinidad (Family Matters); Ian Veneracion (Nanahimik ang Gabi); at JC de Vera, (Bakit ‘Di Mo Sabihin).

Paglalabanan naman nina Mylene Dizon (Family Matters); Matet de Leon (An Inconvenient Love); Althea Ruedas (Doll House); Ruby Ruiz (Ginhawa); at Nikki Valdez (Family Matters) ang tropeo para sa kategoryang Best Supporting Actress.

Para sa Best Supporting Actor, nominado sina Nonie Buencamino (Family Matters); Mon Confiado (Nanahimik ang Gabi); Soliman Cruz (Blue Room); Sid Lucero (Reroute); at Dido dela Paz (Ginhawa).

Magaganap ang 6th Entertainment Editors’ Choice sa Oktubre, 22, 2023 sa EVM Convention Center, 37 Central Avenue, Quezon City, mula sa direksyon ng award-winning actor at filmmaker na si Eric Quizon.

Ihahatid ng Airtime Marketing Philippines ni Tessie Celestino-Howard ang ikaanim na edisyon ng The EDDYS. Magkakaroon ito ng delayed telecast sa NET 25 sa Oktubre 28.

Ang annual event na ito na mula sa samahan ng mga entertainment editors sa Pilipinas ay nagbibigay ng pagkilala at pagpapahalaga sa mga pelikula at personalidad na itinuturing na “best of the best” sa Philippine Cinema.

Ang SPEEd ay binubuo ng mga current at former entertainment editors ng mga leading newspaper at online site sa Pilipinas, sa pangunguna ng presidente nitong si Eugene Asis ng People’s Journal.

Ang pagbibigay-parangal ng SPEEd ay isang paraan din para hikayatin, lalong pataasin ang morale at patuloy na magbigay-inspirasyon sa Filipino filmmakers, producers, writers, actors at iba pang kasama sa pagbuo ng isang matino at dekalibreng pelikula.
