Nasa PH si ex-Speaker Romualdez
BINIGYANG linaw ng kampo ni dating House Speaker at Leyte 1st district Rep. Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez na nananatili sa bansa ang kongresista at gagamitin nila ang lahat ng legal na paraan matapos ang mga ulat na naglabas ang Sandiganbayan ng precautionary hold departure order (PHDO) laban sa dating Speaker.
Sinabi ng abogado at tagapagsalita ni Romualdez na si Atty. Ade Fajardo na kinikilala nila ang mga ulat na ang Sandiganbayan ay naglabas ng (PHDO) laban kay Romualdez sa kahilingan ng Office of the Ombudsman.
Kukuwestiyunin ng kampo ni Romualdez ang kautusan sa pamamagitan ng mga tamang channel, ayon sa abogado.
“We will avail of all appropriate legal remedies to question the issuance of this order before the proper forum,” wika ni Fajardo.
Binigyang-diin pa ni Fajardo na hindi umalis ng bansa si Romualdez at dinagdag na sa simula pa lamang ay malinaw na nilang sinabi na si “Rep. Romualdez” ay nasa Pilipinas at hindi umalis ng bansa.
“At the outset, we categorically clarify: Rep. Romualdez is in the Philippines and has not left the country. Any report or insinuation that he has fled is false and irresponsible,” sabi pa ng abogado.
Sumunod ang dating House Speaker sa mga kinakailangan ng gobyerno bago ang kanyang planong pagbiyahe sa ibang bansa.
“Rep. Romualdez followed the proper process. He sought and secured the necessary travel authority, and coordinated in good faith with the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Immigration for a brief, long-overdue four-day medical check-up with his attending physician in Singapore,” ayon pa sa kaniya.
Idinagdag din ni Fajardo na ang mga kilos ng mambabatas ay naaayon sa pakikipagtulungan sa mga awtoridad.
“This is fully consistent with his conduct from the very beginning—one of cooperation, transparency, and respect for legal processes. Unfortunately, this legitimate act has been twisted to create a prejudicial narrative that he intended to flee,” pahayag pa ni Atty. Fajardo.
Nananatiling handa ang mambabatas na harapin ang mga akusasyon laban sa kanya. “Rep. Romualdez remains committed to facing these allegations squarely,” pagtatapos ni Fajardo.
