HINILING ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa mga mambabatas na lumikha ng batas na makatutugon sa problema ng malnutrisyon sa bansa.

Sa launching ng Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) sa Manila Hotel, binigyan-diin ni Pangulong Marcos ang kahalagahan na maging malusog ang pangangatawan ng bawat Pilipino.

“Let me also take this opportunity to enjoin our lawmakers for their assistance in this endeavor by helping us develop and enshrine into law policies that will help eradicate malnutrition and uplift the standards of primary health care and nutrition in the Philippines,” sabi ng Pangulo.

Ayon kay Marcos maraming lokal na pamahalaan ang kulang ang kakayanan upang matugunan ang problema ng malnutrisyon bunsod ng kanilang limitadong pondo.

“So we have found a way to bring the LGUs in. Because it is without their partnership, we do not get to what is often referred to as the last mile,” ani Pangulong Marcos. “And that is always the problem when you try to translate a program from the national level, a program of national government, all the way down to the local government, down to the barangay level.”

Susuportahan ng PMNP ang mga hakbang ng gobyerno na magkaroon ng multisectoral nutrition approach sa pagtugon sa problema sa local government level.
