NAGSAGAWA ang Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) kauna-unahang refereeing course na natapos kahapon sa University of Science and Technology of the Philippines Gymnasium sa Cagayan De Oro City.

Inudyok ni PNVF vice president Dr. Arnel B. Hajan, na presidente rin ngZamboanga Peninsula Region Volleyball Association (ZPRVA), ang mga kalahok na yakapin at mag-ambag sa course sa opening ceremony noong Martes.

“My role here today is to inspire, to represent the president and to officially open this course on behalf of our PNVF president Ramon “Tats” Suzara, but I also want to encourage all of you to take advantage of the knowledge to be gained here,” sabi ni Hajan.

“Please maximize the knowledge in this course that make a big difference in your officiating and cascade it on to your clubs so that they can better understand the Rules of the Game. We want you to use this to better equip yourself for our federation, your respective area of jurisdiction, and for yourself.”

Nagsimula ang six-day course sa pamamagitan ng welcome remarks mula kay University Sports Director Manuel Paster Jr., na natuwa sa enthusiasm at passion ng mga kalahok, na sinundan ng isa pang mensahe mula kay NORMINVACAR president Alex Adeva.

Pormal na binuksan ni Hajan ang PNVF Refereeing Course kung saan may 172 participants mula sa Visayas at Mindanao ang dumalo sa six-day course na isinagawa nina International Referees Yul Benosa, Nestor Bello at Adrian Tabañag.

Naglalayon ang course na ma-unify ang “interpretation of rules, correct adoption of system, emphasize on exact and proper mechanics, continue to promote volleyball as a sport in the community, and develop the young new breed of dynamic volleyball referees”.

Ang mga kalahok na papasa sa refereeing standards ay bibigyan ng accreditation bilang National Referee Candidates (NRC) batay sa kanilang proficiency (results on written, oral and practical examinations) sa pagtatapos ng course.

Isusumite ang mga pangalan ng mga pumasa sa course sa PNVF Referee and Rules of the Game Commission (PNVFRRGC) at sa FIVB Referee Candidate computerized list.

Magmula doon, ang mga referees ay magiging bahagi ng PNVF-based referee teams na itatalaga sa mga PNVF at PSC sanctioned tournaments sa bansa. Ang PNVF accreditation ay isang hakbang tungo sa pagiging International Referee (IR) at magkaroon ng pag-asa na mag-officiate sa mga international volleyball competitions.

Ang first PNVF refereeing course ay sinuportahan ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) sa pakikipagtulungan ng Office of the City Sports Commission na pinamunuan ni Cagayan de Oro Mayor Oscar S. Moreno at ng Northern Mindanao Volleyball Association of Coaches and Referees, Incorporated (NORMINVACAR).
