KINILALA ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang kontribusyon ng Philippine Normal University sa basic education system ng bansa.

“Through your partnership with the Commission on Higher Education, you helped the Department of Education develop the Senior High School curriculum — producing teaching guides for core, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics or STEM and Accountancy, Business and Management, or ABM subjects,” sabi ni Duterte.

Si Duterte ay guest sa speaker sa International Education Conference ng PNU at Commission on Higher Education na ginanap sa Rizal Park Hotel sa Pasay.

Sinabi ni Duterte na hindi ito bulag sa mga problema ng sektor ng edukasyon lalo at naging head ito ng Local School Board bilang alkalde ng Davao City.

“I was not blind to the never-ending list of problems of our learners, schools, our teachers, and our principals. As the local chief executive and head of the Local School Board, I knew the urgency of resolving the problems,” sabi ni Duterte.

“Having an available budget or the lack of it is an essential factor in the failure or success of our efforts to address the problem of learning loss or sustain our gains or carry out reforms at DepEd,” dagdag pa ng Ikalawang Pangulo.

Noong 2019, lumabas ang ulat na ang Pilipinas ang panghuli ang mga estudyante pagdating sa reading at math.
