LALAHOK ang Pilipinas sa 9th World Aquatics Junior Championships na nakatakda sa Sept. 4-9 sa Netanya, Israel.

Pangungunahan nina Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Teia Salvino at Jasmine Mojdeh ang kampanya ng Pilipinas sa six-day na kumpetisyon ayon kay Philippine Swimming, Inc. (PSI) secretary-general at Batangas 1st District Rep. Eric Buhain,

Si Salvino, na unang nagpakitang gilas matapos dominahin ang women’s 100m backstroke event sa nakalipas na SEA Games na may national record of 1:01.64 sa Cambodia nung May, ay nag-qualified sa 50m at 100m backstroke, 50m, 100m at 200m freestyle, at 100m butterfly.

Ang 17-year-old na si Salvino ay maaalalang nakapag-uwi din ng silver medals sa 4x100m medley relay (kasama sina Jasmine Alkhaldi, Thanya dela Cruz at Miranda Renner) at 4x100m freestyle (kasama sina Alkhaldi, Renner and Xandi Chua), at bronze sa 4x200m freestyle relay (kasama sina Alkhaldi, Chua and Chloe Isleta).

Si Mojdeh, na sumabak na sa 400m individual medley sa 8th FINA World Junior Swimming Championships sa Lima, Peru last year, ay lalangoy sa 100m butterfly,

Ang tatlong iba pang swimmers na babandera para sa bansa ay sina Filipino-German Alexander Eichler (100m and 200m butterfly), Heather White (50m, 100m and 200m freestyle), at Gian Santos (100m, 200m and 400m freestyle).

Si Eichler ay humakot na ng tatlong gold medals sa 2022 SEA Age-Group sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Sinabi ni Buhain na napili ang mga naturang swimmers na kumatawan sa bansa base sa minimum 680 World Aquatics points standard.

“Congratulations to all the qualifiers, their coaches and parents,” pahayag ni Buhain, na maaalala bilang “Best Male Athlete sa 1991 Manila SEA Games”.

“We also would like to thank the Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee and the World Aquatics for their equivocal support to Philippine Aquatics,” dagdag pa ni Buhain.
