PANSAMANTALANG ipinagbawal ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. ang pag-angkat ng mga domestic at wild bird mula sa France dahil sa avian influenza outbreak noong nakaraang buwan sa naturang bansa.

Base sa Memorandum Order 40, kabilang sa mga ipinagbabawal na angkatin ang live poultry, poultry products at by products at day-old chick at semilya.

Inilabas ang utos matapos iulat ng France sa World Organisation on Animal Health ang outbreak ng High Pathogenicity Avian Influenza sa Saint-Malo, Ille-et-Vilaine, Bretagne, France noong Agosto 7, 2024.

Nakumpirma sa laboratory test ang bird flu infection. “We are imposing the ban as a preemptive measure to stop the entry of infected birds and their by-products into the country.

This step will prevent the spread of the virus that could have a devastating impact on the local poultry industry,” ani Tiu Laurel.

Sinuspinde rin ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) ang pag-isyu ng Sanitary at Phytosanitary Import Clearances para sa mga shipment mula sa France.

Papayagan lamang makapasok sa bansa ang mga ibon na kinatay o mga produktong naproseso na bago Hulyo 25, 2024.

Inatasan din ang mga veterinary quarantine offices na pigilin at kumpiskahin ang shipment ng wild at domestic birds, eggs, semen, poultry products at by-products, bukod sa mga heat-treated na produkto.

Umabot sa 150,752 kilos ng imported poultry product arrivals mula France sa pagitan ng Enero at Agosto, 2024 ang pumasok sa Pilipinas.
