BINALAAN ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang mga doktor at medial clinics na nagbibigay ng medical certificate kahit na hindi naman nasuri ang aplikante na kumukuha ng lisensya.

Ayon kay LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade nakatanggap ito ng ulat kaugnay ng mga medical clinics na gumagawa nito.

“My marching orders to all regional and district offices nationwide was to weed out corruption not only in LTO offices themselves but also those in accredited partners like medical clinics, whose services are part of the process for securing driver’s licenses or motor vehicle registration,” sabi ni Tugade.

Ang isang aplikante na kumukuha ng lisensya maging bago man o renewal ay kailangang mayroong medical certificate na nagsasabi na fit to drive ito.

“We continue to remind the public that a driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle is not a right but a privilege granted by the government. No one should circumvent the process in the issuance of a driver’s license, and the job of the LTO is to make sure that it is issued only to qualified drivers as part of promoting road safety,” dagdag pa ng hepe ng LTO.

Sinabi ni Tugade na sinuspendi ng 60 araw ng LTO Region 6 ang isang medical clinic sa Bacolod City matapos itong makapagpalabas ng 168 medical certificate sa loob ng isang araw.

Bago ang suspensyon, nagpalabas ng show cause order ang LTO. Sinabi ng clinic na alas-6:30 pa lamang ng umaga ay bukas na ito kaya marami silang napoproseso.

Ilang tauhan ng LTO ang nagpanggap na kustomer at doon nila nadiskubre na nagbibigay ito ng medical certificate kahit na hindi nakita ng doktor ang aplikante.
