MASAYANG ibinalita ni Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah “Mina” F. Pangandaman na sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. ay inaprubahan na ng DBM ang P2,000 across the board increase sa honoraria ng mga teacher at iba pang poll workers na magsisilbi sa national at local elections sa Mayo 12.

“As directed by our beloved President Bongbong Marcos, finally, our teachers and poll workers will receive a P2,000 across the board increase on their compensation for the 2025 midterm elections,” paliwanag ni Pangandaman.

“Alam po natin na sa pagbantay ng ating mga boto, haharap sa pagod, puyat at sakripisyo ang ating mga guro at poll workers. Kaya noon pong inutusan tayo ng Pangulo na itaas ang kanilang benepisyo, hindi po tayo nagdalawang-isip,” dagdag ng kalihim.

“This is a realization of the directive of President BBM, who is truly committed to ensuring we provide needed support for the welfare of our teachers,” sabi pa ni Pangandaman.

Dahil dito, ang bagong rate ng mga honoraria sa Electoral Board ay P12,000 mula sa dating P10,000 para sa chairperson; P11,000 mula sa dating P9,000 sa poll clerk; P11,000 mula sa dating P9,000 para sa third member; at P8,000 mula sa dating P6,000 sa support staff.

Nanawagan din ang Budget Secretary sa mga kaukulang ahensiya na tiyakin ang early release ng mas mataas na honoraria para sa teachers at poll workers sa parating na midterm polls.

“I urge Comelec to ensure that our teachers and poll workers will get their compensation as quickly as possible. Dapat timely ang release ng kanilang benepisyo. They deserve nothing less,” patuloy ni Pangandaman.

Ang budgetary requirement para sa mga honararia ng poll workers na inaprubahan sa ilalim ng 2025 General Appropriations Act ay itinalaga sa P7.480 billion.

Ayon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec), aabot ang kabuuuang bilang ng poll workers para sa national at local elections sa 758,549.

Base sa Election Service Reform Act at Comelec Resolution No. 10194, ang mga indibidwal na magsisilbi sa eleksiyon ay dapat tumanggap ng honoraria, travel allowance, communication allowance, meal allowance at service credit.
