NILINAW ni Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles na pabor si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa paglikha ng Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport.

Ang desisyon umano ni Marcos na i-veto ang panukala ay upang agad na maitama ng Kongreso ang mga depekto ng House Bill 7575 na hindi nakasunod sa panuntunan ng gobyerno.

“Presidential Veto is fastest way to cure the defects of HB 7575 especially the provision which exempts the Commission on Audit to look into the financial transactions on the special economic zone and freeport,” sabi ni Angeles.

Kung hindi na-veto, sinabi ni Angeles na otomatikong magiging batas ang panukala sa Hulyo 4 o isang buwan matapos itong ipadala ng Kongreso sa Malacañang.

Ayon kay Angeles ang lahat ng transaksyon ng gobyerno ay sinisilip ng COA at ang Bulacan Airport City Special Economic Zone and Freeport ay hindi maaaring maging exemption dito.

“Without those necessary amendments indicated in the veto explanation, the law may be vulnerable to constitutional challenge. The delegation of rule-making power on environmental laws which is unique to the special economic zone is of particular concern,” dagdag pa ng Press Secretary.

Sinabi ni Angeles na mistulang binibigyan din ng blanket authority ng panukala ang economic zone authority na hawakan ang technical airport operation na paglabag sa aeronautical law.

Nilinaw din ni Angeles na ang pagtatayo ng P740 bilyong international airport sa Bulacan ay hindi maaapektuhan ng panukala na na-veto.
