MALAKI ang paniniwala ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino na maaaring maging host ang Pilipinas ng Asian BMX Championships at International Cycling Union-BMX World Cup sa Tagaytay City sa 2025.

Ito ay matapos na pormal na mag-sumite si Tolentino ng kanyang alok na maging host kina Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) secretary-general Onkar Singh and UCI management committee member Datuk Amarjit Singh of Malaysia

“With the success of this year’s Asian BMX championships, Tagaytay City is declaring its bid not only for the continental championships but also for the UCI World Cup in 2025,” pahayag ni Tolentino sa pagtatapos ng 2023 Asian BMX Championships for Freestyle and Racing sa Tagaytay City BMX Park nitong weekend.

“We want to become the first Asian country to host the International Cycling Union-BMX World Cup by 2025,” dagdag ni Tolentino, na kasalukuyang mayor din ng Tagaytay.

Gayunman, inamin ni Tolentino na kailangan pang i-modify ang kasalukuyang BMX track sa Tagaytay bago magsilbing punong abala ito sa BMX World Cup

“Innovations on the current BMX track would be implemented, especially on raising the start ramp from its present 5-meter height to the world championships and World Cup standard of 8 meters,” paliwanag pa ni Tolentino.

“Hosting the Asian championships and the World Cup would have to be in the first five months of the year when the rains — and the Tagaytay fog — are scant,” dugtong nya.

Tinukoy din ni Tolentino ang magiging malaking papel ng Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), sa pangunguna ni Chairman Richard Bachmann, sa naturang bid ng bansa.
