UMABOT na umano sa 54 milyon ang bilang ng mga SIM card na nairehistro na, ayon sa Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Sa bilang na ito 4,124,064 ang DITO Telecommunity Corp.; 22,406,104 ang Globe Telecom Inc.; at 27,560,557 ang Smart Communications Inc.

“This brings the total number of registered SIMs to 54,090,725, which is 32.01% of the 168,977,773 million subscribers nationwide,” sabi ng DICT.

Nanawagan naman ang DICT sa mga hindi pa nakakapagparehistro na magpatala na dahil 26 araw na lamang ay matatapos na ang deadline.

Ang mga SIM card na hindi pa nairerehistro pagsapit ng Abril 26 ay madi-deactivate.

“We urge those who have already registered their SIMs to help inform and encourage those who haven’t yet, especially our elderly and differently-abled citizens, and those living in remote areas,” sabi ni DICT Undersecretary at spokesperson Anna Mae Lamentillo.

Sa ilalim ng batas, lahat ng bibilhing SIM card ay kailangang irehistro muna bago ma-activate.
