SUPORTADO ng Kamara de Representantes ang pagratipika ng Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement na pakikinabangan umano ng mga Pilipino.

Pinangunahan ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez ang paghahain ng House Resolution 728 na humihimok sa Senado na ratipikahin ang RCEP.

“By immediately ratifying the RCEP Agreement, the Philippines can sooner benefit and take the advantages of this mega-trade deal that could attract more foreign investors, create more job opportunities, and curb the unemployment and poverty rates in the country,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez sa HR 728.

Kasama ni Speaker Romualdez bilang may-akda ng HR 728 sina Majority Leader at Zamboanga City 2nd District Rep. Manuel Jose “Mannix” M. Dalipe, Senior Deputy Majority Leader at Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Alexander A. Marcos, at Batangas 5th District Rep. Mario Vittorio “Marvey” Mariño.

Noong Nobyembre 15, 2021, nilagdaan ng Pilipinas ang RCEP Agreement, isang trade agreement kasama ang 10 miyembrong bansa ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at limang free trade agreement (FTA) partners nito: Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, at Republic of Korea.

“Due to various FTAs that the Philippines entered into in the Asia-Pacific Region, there is overlapping of the numerous bilateral FTAs involving different sectors, with varying levels of commitment for tariff reduction and conflicting technical trade rules,” sabi sa resolusyon.

Ayon sa resolusyon mas malaki ang benepisyong maihahatid ng pagratipika ng Pilipinas sa RCEP kumpara sa pinangangambahan na magiging negatibong epekto nito.

Sa ilalim ng RCEP ay luluwag ang economic at trade cooperation ng mga kalahok na bansa dahil gagawin nitong simple ang pamantayan ng kalakalan.

Ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) sa ilalim ng RCEP ay mas magiging mura ang pagkuha ng mga materyales na kailangan ng manufacturing sector, mas magiging madali ang pakikipagkalakanan sa mga FTA partners, magiging competitive ang mga industriya ng bansa, at makatutugon ito sa mga programa ng gobyerno.

Inaasahan din na sa ratipikasyon ng RCEP ay mahihikayat ang mga dayuhang mamumuhunan na mag-invest sa bansa partikular sa sektor ng digital service, business process outsourcing industry, financial service, aerospace, shipbuilding, research and development, at marami pang iba.

“The recent state visits of President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. to Indonesia, Singapore and China not only generated billions of investment pledges but also expanded the economic opportunities of the Philippines by reinforcing foreign ties,” sabi ng mga may-akda ng resolusyon.

Makikinabang din umano sa RCEP ang mga kompanya sa Pilipinas na nagbebenta ng kanilang mga produkto sa ibang bansa.
