TINIYAK ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez na all-in ang Kamara de Representantes sa accountability drive ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at iginiit na walang itatago o poprotektahan ang Mababang Kapulungan sa mga alegasyon ng iregularidad sa mga infrastructure project.

“Walang itinatago, walang poprotektahan, at higit sa lahat―hindi lilihis sa interes ng taumbayan,” ani Speaker Romualdez, habang tinatanggap ang pinakahuling pahayag ng Pangulo na walang sinuman ang exempted sa pananagutan kaugnay ng mga anomalya sa mga flood control project.

Sinabi ng lider ng Kamara na dapat magsilbing gabay na prinsipyo ang paalala ng Pangulo hindi lamang para sa Kamara, kundi para sa lahat ng sangay ng pamahalaang nakatuon sa pagbabalik ng tiwala ng publiko.

“I fully support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s statement that no one is exempt from accountability. The House of Representatives has already embraced this principle in our work to uphold transparency and restore public trust,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez.

Binigyang-diin ng Speaker na dapat nakabatay sa ebidensiya at hindi sa spekulasyon o sabi-sabi ang mga imbestigasyon.

“The President has also reminded us against name-dropping and reckless accusations. I share this view. Investigations must be anchored on facts and evidence, not on rumor, innuendo, or hearsay. Only by focusing on the truth can we ensure both accountability and fairness,” aniya.

Muling iginiit ni Speaker Romualdez na hindi magiging kanlungan ng maling gawain ang Kamara, kahit pa mga mambabatas ang sangkot.

“From the very start, I have made it clear: the House will not be a refuge for wrongdoing. Not even its own Members will be shielded if wrongdoing is proven. We will ensure that the process is fair, fact-based, and guided by the rule of law,” diin niya.

Sinabi rin niya na ang pagbuo ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure ay pagkakataon upang linisin ang sistema, at nangakong makikipagkooperasyon ang Kamara nang buo.

Kasabay nito, binanggit ni Speaker Romualdez na nagsimula nang repasuhin ng mga komite ng Kamara ang mga procurement safeguard at ang pagsubaybay sa implementasyon ng mga proyekto upang maisara ang mga butas at mapalakas ang oversight.

“This issue is bigger than personalities. It is about safeguarding the people’s money and ensuring that every bridge, road and flood control project truly serves the Filipino people,” sabi pa ng lider ng Kamara.

“House will remain a co-equal partner of the President in building not just infrastructure, but also a Bagong Pilipinas anchored on accountability, honesty and public trust,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
