DAPAT umanong maglungsad ng all-out war ang Department of Agriculture (DA) at Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) laban sa mga hoarder at walang konsensyang negosyante na gustong kumita ng malaki kahit na ang kapalit nito ay paghihirap ng maraming Pilipino.

Sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na susuportahan ng Kamara de Representantes ang DA at DTI sa paglaban nito sa mga walang pusong negosyante para mapababa ang presyo ng pagkain.

“We will help you, that’s why we’re here. You will not be powerless. We will use the power of the House. We will shine the light on them and then we will take them to account for this,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez.

Pinulong ni Speaker Romualdez ang mga opisyal ng DA at DTI sa gitna ng mga ulat na mayroong mga negosyanteng nananamantala para kumita ng malaki.

“We will ask our Chairman (of the Committee on Agriculture) all the power and all the resources to get to the bottom of this,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez na ang tinutukoy ay si Quezon Rep. Mark Enverga.

Nanawagan din si Speaker Romualdez sa DA at DTI na sabihin sa Kongreso kung sino ang mga mapagsamantalang negosyante upang maipatawag sa isinasagawang imbestigasyon kaugnay ng manipulasyon ng presyo ng mga produktong pang-agrikultura.

“If you know who these people are, let us know. We will invite all of them, if not, have the authorities arrest them,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

Sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na kinikilala ng Kongreso ang karapatan ng mga negosyante na kumita subalit hindi sa pamamaraang mapagsamantala na nagreresulta sa paghihirap ng maraming Pilipino.

“That’s where we draw the line here in Congress,” giit ni Speaker Romualdez.

Ayon kay Speaker Romualdez dapat magkaroon ng matibay na kooperasyon ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno sa paglaban sa mga mapagsamantalang negosyante.

“ We are also giving budget to the DA and your agency so we want to make sure you are performing optimally. It doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment—but we want to get there. Because at the end of the day, with the best data, the best feedback, we can make the best policies so we can avoid this situation were some unscrupulous personalities and cartels are taking advantage of the situation,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
