MAGSISIMULA na ang NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) sa pamamahala ng operasyon at pagpapanatili ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) sa susunod na linggo.

We can begin the work of modernizing our airport and giving the Filipino people a world-class facility they deserve,” pahayag ni San Miguel Corp. Chairman Ramon S. Ang noong Lunes sa Economic Journalists of the Philippines (EJAP) Aviation Forum.

Samantala, ipinahayag ni Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista ang kanyang kumpiyansa na ang NNIC, sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Ang, ay magdadala ng makabuluhang pagbabago sa pangunahing gateway ng bansa upang maging isang globally competitive at modernong paliparan.

“We have no doubt these SMC-implemented projects, once completed, will conform with the comfortable, accessible, safe, secure, and affordable parameters we instituted in DOTr – that is, our transport infrastructures will provide comfortable, accessible, safe, sustainable and affordable travel experience,” saad ni Sec. Bautista.

Ayon sa kanya, ang tagumpay ng San Miguel Corp. sa iba pang Public-Private Partnership (PPP) na mga proyekto ay magiging susi sa pagbabago ng NAIA.

“In seeking excellence, they provide a realistic template for superior and effective government service. This provides a high level of comfort knowing San Miguel can do that job … and do it well,” dagdag niya.

Magsisimulang pamahalaan ng NNIC ang NAIA sa Setyembre 14.

Ayon kay Sec. Bautista, kapag natapos na ang rehabilitasyon ng NAIA, inaasahang tataas ang kapasidad ng paliparan mula 35 milyong pasahero patungong 62 milyong pasahero, at ang paggalaw ng mga eroplano ay tataas mula 40 galaw bawat oras patungong 48.

Inaasahan din na makakamit ng gobyerno ang P900 bilyon na kita sa buong tagal ng concession agreement.

Ang rehabilitasyon ay inaasahang magbibigay ng hindi bababa sa 58,000 trabaho para sa mga Pilipino, ayon kay Sec. Bautista.
