ANG panalo ng mga kongresista na pabor sa inihaing impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte ay isa umanong malinaw na mensahe ng mga Pilipino na manindigan para sa katotohanan at pananagutan, ayon kay House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs Chairman Jude Acidre.

Ayon kay Acidre, nanalo ang 100 sa 115 miyembro ng Kamara de Representantes mula sa iba’t ibang distrito na lumagda o nagkumpirma sa impeachment complaint laban kay Duterte, o katumbas ng 86.96 porsiyentong win rate.

Maging sa Mindanao, kung saan sinasabing malakas si Duterte, sinabi ni Acidre na 36 sa 44 na pro-impeachment na district representative ang nanalo sa katatapos na halalan, o katumbas ng 81.81 porsiyentong win rate.

“Just to set the record straight, these results dismantle the narrative that the impeachment was a political liability,” ani Acidre. “What we’re seeing is a public that values courage over complicity.

The people have drawn the line—and they stood with us.”

Ang pahayag ni Acidre ay bunsod ng pahayag ni Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas campaign manager at Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco na ang impeachment complaint ang dahilan kung bakit natalo ang mga kandidato ng administrasyon sa pagkasenador.

“With due respect to Rep. Tiangco, the numbers simply do not support that claim,” ani Acidre. “The defeat of a few candidates cannot be pinned on a constitutional process that the people clearly understood—and endorsed.”

Binigyang-diin din niya na pinagtibay ng halalan ang liderato ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, na aniya’y mahinahong gumabay sa Kamara sa isa sa mga pinakamatinding panahong politikal sa kasaysayan nito—nang may prinsipyo at pagkakaisa.

“The House acted as it should—as an independent, co-equal branch committed to the rule of law. Speaker Romualdez provided steady leadership throughout. If anything, the results show that his brand of principled politics resonates across the nation,” dagdag ni Acidre.

Hinimok niya ang mga kapwa mambabatas na tuldukan na ang sisihan at ituon na lamang ang kanilang pansin upang masolusyunan ang mga problema ng bansa sa ilalim ng agenda ng Bagong Pilipinas.

“This is no time for finger-pointing. We were elected not to protect careers, but to uphold our duty. The people have spoken. And they have spoken in favor of accountability,” dagdag pa ni Acidre.
