BINARA ng mga miyembro ng Young Guns sa Kamara ang mga pahayag ni Bise Presidente Sara Duterte kaugnay ng impeachment complaint laban sa kanya, na anila’y isang desperadong pagtatangkang bawasan ang bigat ng kaso.

Sa halip, lalo lang daw nitong ipinakita ang nerbiyos ng Pangalawang Pangulo sa nalalapit na paglilitis sa Senado.

Sa isang joint statement, sina Reps. Pammy Zamora ng Taguig City, Jil Bongalon ng Ako Bicol Party-list, Paolo Ortega ng La Union at Jay Khonghun ng Zambales ay hindi nagpatinag sa mga pasaring ni Duterte, matapos niyang tawagin ang impeachment complaint bilang isang “premeditated move” laban sa kanya.

“Vice President Duterte’s press conference was meant to downplay the seriousness of the impeachment complaint against her. Instead, her dismissive remarks only reinforced the perception that she is deeply anxious about the trial ahead,” anang mga kongresista.

Pinuna rin nila ang umano’y mababaw na depensa ni Duterte, kung saan iniiwasan daw nitong harapin ang mga akusasyon at sa halip ay idinidikit ito sa pulitika.

“Her statement, lacking substance and punctuated by vague, defensive quips, failed to address the grave allegations against her. She did not offer a direct rebuttal to the charges but instead framed the impeachment as a premeditated effort,” giit nila.

Bukod dito, sinita rin nila ang pagtatangka ng Bise Presidente na kwestiyunin ang mga lumagda sa reklamo—isang maniobra raw para ilayo ang usapan sa tunay na isyu.

“Vice President Duterte also sought to undermine the legitimacy of the impeachment complaint by casting doubt on the lawmakers who signed it. Instead of addressing the accusations, she insinuated that the need for these lawmakers to justify their signatures was itself an admission of wrongdoing,” dagdag nila.

Hindi rin daw uubra ang tila “pakunwaring chill” ni Duterte sa sitwasyon, dahil malinaw naman umano ang kanyang pangamba.

“Her attempt at nonchalance cannot mask the reality of the situation. Her statements reflected an underlying fear, poorly disguised as indifference. The overwhelming majority of the House of Representatives has already found probable cause for impeachment,” paliwanag ng grupo.

Ngayong nasa Senado na ang reklamo, iginiit nilang dapat tutukan ang patas at transparent na paglilitis.

“This trial is not about political maneuvering—it is about upholding the integrity of democratic institutions. The Senate must ensure a fair, impartial and transparent trial,” anila.

Pinanindigan nilang sapat ang ebidensya laban kay Duterte, partikular na ang alegasyon ng malawakang korapsyon gamit ang confidential funds—isang usaping dahilan kung bakit 215 kongresista ang sumuporta sa impeachment.

“For all her outward defiance, Vice President Duterte cannot escape the reality that this impeachment trial will determine her political survival,” diin nila.

Babala pa nila, anumang pagtatangkang pahabain o hadlangan ang kaso ay lalo lang magpapabagsak sa tiwala ng publiko sa gobyerno.

“Justice delayed is justice denied. The Senate must act swiftly to ensure a transparent and fair trial. Any delay or obstruction will only deepen public distrust in the government,” anila.

Ayon sa Young Guns, ang resulta ng impeachment ay magiging sukatan kung tunay ngang pinapairal ng bansa ang batas o kung may mga opisyal na pwedeng tumakas sa pananagutan.

“The people are watching. How the Senate votes will be remembered—not just in history books but in the minds of every Filipino demanding accountability,” babala nila.

Sa huli, nagbigay sila ng matapang na hamon kay Duterte: “The trial is inevitable. See you at the Senate impeachment tribunal.”
