PINABIBIGYANG prayoridad ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang pagpapalago sa semiconductor at electronics industry sa bansa.

Ginawa ni Pangulong Marcos ang utos sa pulong kasama ang Private Sector Advisory Council-Education and Jobs Sector Group (PSAC-EJSG) sa Palasyo ng Malakanyang.

Ayon kay Pangulong Marcos, malaking tulong ang semiconductor at electronics industry para mapalakas ang ekonomiya ng Pilipinas.

“Actually, we really need to push on the semiconductor industry. It’s because, again, it’s not something that we had in mind but the situation — considering how much money we make as the income we get from exports already,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

“We really should be focusing on it more. So, let’s do that now. So, we need to hear from the industry to see what you suggest, and what we can try to incorporate na nga,” dagdag ng Pangulo.

Isa sa mga nakikitang hakbang ni Pangulong Marcos ang pagbibigay insentibo gaya nang nakasaad sa probisyon ng Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) Act na nakaakit sa mga investors tulad ng sa car manufacturing.

Ayon kay Pangulong Marcos, ang semiconductor industry ay hindi kagaya ng ibang sektor na sakop ng CREATE MORE Law na nagbibgay insentibo.

“In terms of CREATE MORE, there is nothing specific for the semiconductor industry while other industries were given incentives such as car manufacturing,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

Una nang inirekomenda ng PSAC-EJSG na rebyuhin ang implementing rules and regulations sa CREATE MORE Law para maisama sa probisyon ang semiconductor sector.
