UMAASA si angulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na patuloy na tatatag ang relasyon ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos sa gitna ng mga hamon na kinakaharap ng mundo.

Ginawa ni Marcos ang pahayag matapos na makausap si US Secretary of State Antony Blinken sa Malacañang.

“I hope that we will continue to evolve with that relationship in the face of all the changes that we have been seeing and the changes in our bilateral relations with the United States,” sabi ni Marcos.

Binigyan-diin ni Marcos ang kahalagahan ng relasyon ng dalawang bansa.

Ganito rin ang tema ng pahayag ni Blinken na iginiit ang relasyon ng dalawang bansa na nag-ugat umano sa pakikipagkaibigan.

“Our relationship is quite extraordinary because it is really founded in friendship, it’s forged as well in partnership, and it’s strengthened by the fact that it’s an alliance as well,” sabi ni Blinken.

Muli ring iginiit ni Blinken ang kahandaan ng Estados Unidos na tuparin ang pangako nitong kooperasyon sa larangan ng seguridad at depensa.

“We are committed to the Mutual Defense Treaty. We’re committed to working with you on shared challenges,” dagdag pa ni Blinken.

Tutulong din umano ang Estados Unidos sa iba pang suliranin na kinakaharap ng Pilipinas gaya ng COVID-19 pandemic at climate change.

“We have been proud to be your partner in working on that and protecting all of our people. Whether it’s climate change and the need to deal with that existential challenge or whether it’s the impact of all these new technologies on the lives of our people,” ayon pa kay Blinken.

Si Blinken ang pinakamataas na opisyal ng US na pumunta sa bansa mula noong inagurasyon ni Marcos.
