REREPASUHIN ng House committee on appropriations ang paggamit sa intel funds ng iba’t ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan matapos makalabas ng bansa si dating Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo at iba pang suspek sa iligal na operasyon ng mga Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO).

“Congress takes the allocation and use of intelligence funds very seriously. The escape of former Mayor Alice Guo despite an immigration lookout bulletin is an incident of great concern. Isama na din natin ang kaso nina Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy at dating BuCor Chief Gerald Bantag, na hanggang ngayo’y ‘di pa rin nahuhuli. These incidents are alarming because they raise serious questions on use of funds for security and law enforcement,” ani Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co, chairperson ng Appropriations panel.

Sinabi ni Co na mahalagang malaman kung nagagamit ng tama ang intel funds.

“Kailangang siguruhin nating ang bawat piso ng intelligence funds ay nagagamit nang tama at epektibo. We want to prevent these lapses from happening again by ensuring stronger oversight and accountability,” sabi ng kongresista.

Sinabi ng mambabatas na bubusisiing mabuti ng Kongreso ang paggamit ng intelligence funds.

“Hindi natin hahayaang masayang ang pera ng bayan. The goal is to make sure every peso serves its purpose. Congress will not take this matter lightly,” wika pa ng kongresista mula sa Bicol.
