PINURI ni President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang Association of Philippine Journalists (APJ)-Samahang Plaridel Foundation, Inc. sa patuloy na pagtataguyod ng “freedom of the press at responsible journalism sa gitna ng mga unregulated media, fake news at artificial intelligence.”

Sa kanyang speech, binigyang halaga ni President Marcos ang papel ng media pagpapa-unlad ng bansa.

“Indeed, the APJ-Samahang Plaridel Foundation is crucial in all of these by upholding the freedom of the press, fostering accuracy in journalism, and policing errant practitioners within your ranks,” pahayag ni President Marcos sa kanyang mensahe sa oath-taking ceremony ng Board of Trustees ng APJ–Samahang Plaridel Foundation sa Malacañang kamakailan.

“Let your commitment to responsible, ethical, and fair reporting be the guide in inspiring your colleagues and aspiring journalists to follow in your footsteps in the Fourth Estate,” paalala pa ni President Marcos sa APJ-Samahang Plaridel.

Ipinahayag pa ni President Marcos ang kanyang paniniwala na ipagpapatuloy ng APJ-Samahang Plaridel na mapanatili ang mataas at kaaya-ayang kalidad ng journalism sa buong bansa.

Sa naturan ding oath-taking, 16 na newly-elected board of trustees ang nanumpa kay President Marcos.

Ang mga ito ay sina Evelyn D. Quiroz bilang president; Fernando T. Sevilla, vice president; Assistant Secretary of Department of Trade and Industry (DoTr) Hector A. Villacorta, secretary; Carmelita V. Valdez, auditor; Rowena C. Ocfemia at Joey G. De Guzman,public relations officers (PRO).

Napiling trustees ng foundation sina Eduardo N. Andaya ng People’s Tonight/Taliba; Raymond Robert C. Burgos; Vito E. Barcelo Jr.; Dante Francis Mariano Ang II; Medarlo Emilio E. Rivera; Marc Anthony E. Reyes; Reynaldo L. Delos; at Ramoncito M. Henares.

Ang Samahang Plaridel ay isang non-profit organization na itinatag nung 2003 ng mga veteran journalists bilang pagkilala sa mga simulain ng Father of Philippine Journalism na si Marcelo H. Del Pilar.
