MAGKATUWANG na inilunsad nina Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Tingog Partylist Reps. Yedda Marie Romualdez at Jude Acidre ang isang state-of-the-art na Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL) sa Leyte upang makapaghatid ng de-kalidad na serbisyo ng gobyerno sa lugar.

Ang pasilidad ay nagkakahalaga ng P42 milyon at naglalaman ng mga makabagong kagamitan sa pagsusuri.

“The unveiling of our modernized RSTL marks a pivotal moment in our journey towards excellence. This state-of-the-art facility is not just an achievement for Tingog Party-list, but a beacon of progress and innovation for all of Eastern Visayas,” ayon kay Rep. Acidre.

“This project is a testament to Tingog’s commitment to an inclusive social development, underscoring the importance of empowerment of regional offices to make services more accessible to Filipinos as part of our Bagong Pilipinas,” sabi pa nito.

Ang RSTL ay may tatlong laboratoryo na nag-aalok ng iba’t ibang serbisyo at binubuo ng mga kwalipikadong propesyonal gaya ng Microbiology Laboratory, Metrology and Calibration Laboratory, at Physico-Chemical Laboratory.

Ang bagong Microbiology Laboratory ay para sa pagsusuri ng tubig, wastewater, at mga pagkain o produktong pagkain. Ito ay kinikilala ng Food & Drug Administration (FDA) at may pakikipagtulungan sa Primewater at Eastern Visayas Medical Center.

Habang ang Metrology and Calibration Laboratory ay nananatiling pangunahing tagapagbigay ng serbisyo sa volumetric at mass calibration sa rehiyon. Ang laboratoryong ito ay nagbibigay ng on-site testing calibration services sa kahilingan ng iba’t ibang ahensya sa buong Region 8. Ito ay nag-aalok ng small volume, big volume, mass pressure, thermometry, at length calibrations.

While the Metrology and Calibration Laboratory remains to be the major volumetric and mass calibration services provider in the region. This laboratory provides on-site testing calibration services upon request of different agencies across Region 8. It offers small volume, big volume, mass pressure, thermometry, and length calibrations.

Ang Physico-Chemical Laboratory ay para naman sa mga analytical test ng tubig, waste water, at mga pagkain. Ito ay naka-ayon sa Chemistry Profession Act; kaya’t binubuo ito ng mga rehistradong chemist at chemical technician. Ngayong 2024, nakakuha ang RSTL ng Certificate of Authority to Operate a Chemical Laboratory mula sa Professional Regulation Commission.

Ang Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 8 – RSTL ay isang accredited ng One-stop Laboratory Services for Global Competitiveness (OneLab).

Ang OneLab ay bahagi ng inisyatibo ng DOST upang pag-isahin at magkaroon ng pagtutulungan ang mga laboratoryo sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa. Ito ay isang network ng mga laboratoryong pinagsama sa pamamagitan ng isang IT platform, na nag-aalok ng referral system para sa testing at calibration services sa pamamagitan ng isang single touch point. Ang sistemang ito ay nagbibigay sa mga kustomer ng maginhawa at madaling pag-access sa isang komprehensibong hanay ng laboratory testing at calibration services.

Dumalo sa serermonya para sa paglulunsad ng laboratoryo si Rep. Acidre bilang kinatawan ng Tingog Party-list, Officer-in-Charge ng Office ng Regional Director ng DOST Region 8 na si Dr. John Glenn Ocaña, DOST Undersecretary for Special Concerns Dr. Teodoro Gatchalian, at Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations Marilyn Radam.

Ang Region 8 RSTL ay itinatag noong 1998 upang magbigay ng mga serbisyong testing at calibration sa mga industriya, mananaliksik, mag-aaral, at iba pang mga customer.
