WALANG Filipino journalist ang napatay noong 2024.

Ayon kay Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) chief Joe Torrres, base ito sa report ng Committee to Protect Journalists.

Sinabi ni Torres na welcome development ito sa kanilang hanay patunay ito ng pagsisikap at pagtutulungan ng ibat ibang stakeholders kabilang ang mga awtoridad, media organizations at civil society sa pagtataguyod ng mas ligtas na kapaligiran para sa mga mamamahayag.

Gayunman, sinabi ni Torres na nananatiling vigilant at committed ang PTFOMS sa mandato nitong ipaglaban ang kapakanan at kaligtasan ng media at hindi dapat maging kampante.

Tiniyak ni Torres na patuloy na babantayan at tutugunan ang lahat ng uri ng pagbabanta at pananakot laban sa mga mamamahayag, kabilang ang online attacks, intimidation at iba pang uri ng karahasan.

“However, we must emphasize that while this report is encouraging, the PTFOMS remains vigilant and committed to its mandate,” pahayag ni Torres.

“We recognize that the fight for media security is an ongoing process, and we cannot afford to be complacent. We continue to monitor and address all forms of threats and harassment against journalists, including online attacks, intimidation, and other forms of violence,” dagdag ni Torres.

Panagawan ni Torres sa lahat ng media workers, patuloy na makipag-ugnayan sa kanilang hanay at sa iba pang tanggapan ng pamahalaan para masiguro ang kanilang kaligtasan.

“We also urge the public to remain vigilant and report any incidents of threats or violence against media workers,” pahayag ni Torres.

“The PTFOMS remains dedicated to upholding the constitutional guarantee of press freedom and ensuring that journalists can perform their duties without fear of reprisal,” pahayag ni Torres.
