ANG eight-point socio-economic agenda ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang gagamitin ng Kongreso sa pagsasapinal ng panukalang P5.268 trilyong budget para sa 2023.

Ito ang sinabi ni House Committee on Appropriations chairperson at Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co sa paunang pagpupulong ng Bicameral Conference Committee na tatalakay sa panukalang budget.

Sinabi ni Co na pinagtibay ng Kamara at Senado ang Medium-term Fiscal Framework ng Marcos administration kung saan nakapaloob ang 8-point socio-economic agenda.

“In the end, the final version will be one that best supports the President’s 8-point socio-economic agenda. We envision the final version as a budget that creates jobs, keeps the macro-economy stable, and helps keep inflation within a manageable range,” sabi ni Co.

“My fervent hope is that in the coming days, we arrive at a common and collective decision to reconcile our differences and harmonize them with the programs of the present administration and balance them with the needs of our constituents. Our shared aspiration is to bring a better quality of life for Filipinos; for their future prosperity and advancement,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

Sinabi ni Co na nakapaloob sa panukalang budget ang mga hakbang upang matulungan ang mga Pilipino na makaahon mula sa epekto ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Umaasa si Co na mapipirmahan ng Pangulo ang panukalang budget bago mag-Pasko at magsisilbi itong regalo sa mga mamamayan.

“Dahil hindi pa tapos ang pandemya, kelangan pa rin natin ng sapat na health response. Kasama dito ang booster shots at bayad sa ating frontliners,” ani Co. “Mahalaga din na merong sufficient response sa inflation. Dahil food inflation ang pinakamalaking bahagi, kailangang sapat ang budget para sa agrikultura. Halimbawa, may programs ang DA (Department of Agriculture) para sa bigas, mais, High Value Crops at maging livestock development.”
