Sa utos nito sa NFA na bumili ng palay sa mataas na presyo 

ANG utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa National Food Authority na mamili ng palay sa mataas na presyo ay makatutulong sa mga magsasaka at sa pagpapanatili ng presyo ng bigas, ayon kay Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

“This shows the malasakit our President has towards our farmers who have been working very hard for us to achieve food security. We should always take care of them,” saad ng lider ng Kamara de Representantes na may 311 miyembro.

“Our farmers have been the ones giving us food on our tables. So, let’s give them the respect that they truly deserve. That is why our President still sits as Agriculture Secretary in a concurrent capacity,” sabi pa ni Speaker Romualdez.

“The President wants to make sure our local prices are stable, regardless of what happens in the world market. Our priority should be our own. Of course, we prefer our local supply compared to imported rice. We should import only those what we need. Self-sufficiency should be key,” dagdag pa ng kinatawan ng unang distrito ng Leyte.

Itinakda ng National Food Authority Council, na pinamumunuan ni Marcos ang bilihan ng tuyong palay sa halagang P19-P23 kada kilo at P16-P19 kada kilo naman para sa basang palay upang matiyak na kikita ang mga magsasaka.

Ayon kay Romualdez ang hakbang na ito ng gobyerno ay titiyak na kikita ang mga magsasaka ng hindi naaapektuhan ang presyo ng bigas sa mga pamilihan.

Sinabi ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na handa itong suportahan ang NFA Council at mayroong nakahandang P15 bilyon para sa pagbili ng palay.

Nanawagan din si Speaker Romualdez ng dagdag na suporta sa mga magsasaka upang maparami ng mga ito ang kanilang produksyon at hindi na kailanganin pang mag-angkat ng bigas ang bansa.

Ipinunto ni Speaker Romualdez na ang mga dayuhang magsasaka ang kumikita kapag nag-aangkat ng bigas ang bansa na nagpapahirap naman sa mga pagsasaka.

“We must prioritize strengthening the resilience and growth of our farmers. This means investing significantly in them by providing them advanced training, the latest technology, and modern infrastructure, all of which can uplift our farming community and make them more competitive with enhanced yields,” sabi ni Speaker Romualdez.

“Furthermore, providing accessible financial schemes, such as low-interest loans and grants, can empower our farmers to innovate and scale up their operations. Facilitating direct market access, eliminating the middlemen, ensures that our farmers receive better prices for their produce while consumers benefit from affordability,” sabi pa nito.

Kung kakailanganin man umanong mag-angkat ng bigas ng bansa, sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na mahalagang masiguro na mayroong mga safety net gaya ng pagbili ng palay sa magandang presyo upang malimitahan ang epekto nito sa mga magsasaka.

Iginiit rin ni Speaker Romualdez na kung sapat ang suplay, mas makatitiyak ang mga konsumer na hindi tataas ang presyo nito at kikita ang mga magsasaka.
