BINATIKOS ni Kabayan Partylist Rep. Ron Salo si dating presidential spokesperson Harry Roque sa alegasyon nito na pinupulitika ng Kamara de Representantes ang hinihinging confidential fund ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa ilalim ng 2024 national budget.

“Harry Roque’s allegations of politicization within the House of Representatives are not only unfounded but profoundly hypocritical, especially in light of his past membership in the very institution he now criticizes,” ani Salo sa isang pahayag.

Kinuwestyon din ni Salo ang kredibilidad ni Roque na dating kinatawan ng Kabayan party-list subalit sinibak dahil sa kanyang ginawa sa imbestigasyon ng Kamara kaugnay ng ipinagbabawal na gamot sa loob ng New Bilibid Prison noong 2017.

“It’s ironic that someone with such a history now seeks to lecture the House on political matters,” sabi ni Salo.

“The House’s decision to remove the confidential funds was executed in strict adherence to established protocols and, above all, to serve the best interests of the Filipino people, free from any political ulterior motives, after thorough public hearings,” saad pa nito.

Tinawag ding “highly inappropriate and baseless” ni Salo ang sinabi ni Roque na dapat mas bantayan ng publiko ang extraordinary and miscellaneous expenses kaysa sa confidential funds.

Iginiit ni Salo na dapat ay malinaw kung saan ginagastos ang pondo ng gobyerno.

Kinuwestyon din ni Salo ang motibo si Roque sa pagbibitaw nito ng walang basehang alegasyon laban sa Kamara.

“Roque’s inflamatory statements appear to be more of a publicity stunt. Perhaps he wants to relish his days when he was still the presidential spokesperson and the center of media attention,” wika pa ni Salo.

Hinikayat ni Salo ang publiko na ituon ang atensyon nito sa transparency at accountability ng mga nasa gobyerno sa halip na magpabuyo sa walang basehang paratang.
