PINAWI ng mga mambabatas ngayong Lunes ang pangamba ng ilang malalaking negosyante sa panukalang amyendahan ang economic provisions ng Saligang Batas.

Payo pa ng mga ito na dumalo sa pagtalakay ng Kongreso sa Charter Change at doon ihayag ang kanilang mga alinlangan.

Sa isang press conference, sinabi ni Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman na ang mga negosyante na may pagdududa sa epekto ng amyenda sa Konstitusyon ay dapat makibahagi sa pag-dinig ng Senado at Kamara.

“Is this what businessmen are really saying? I’d like to hear directly from them because so far, I’ve been listening to businessmen say that this will actually be beneficial to our country,” saad ni Roman, na chairperson ng House Committee on Women and Gender Equality

Ganito rin ang paniwala ni La Union Rep. Francisco Paolo Ortega V, at sinabi na dapat ay maimbitahan bilang resource person ng Senado at Kamara ang mga pinuno ng malalaking negosyo para maiparating ang kanilang posisyon.

“For me, they should engage ‘dun sa hearings po ng RBH 6 kasi ‘dun po nila ilalabas ‘yung side nila, engage in the debate, in the discussions. Then ‘yung tao po ang titingin dyan ng advantages and disadvantages, baka naman po hindi ‘yung para kay Juan, hindi naman po para sa karamihan,” wika ni Ortega

“So dapat makita po natin ‘yung advantages and disadvantages, especially these are business tycoons, moguls or big business people. They should show (us and help us) weigh on the pros and cons. So I suggest that they attend the hearings (in the Senate) or even attend the hearings here in the House of Representatives,” dagdag niya.

Giit ni Roman ang pagpapa pasok ng dayuhang mamumuhunan sa bansa sa mga sektor na layong amyendahan ng sa panukalang charter amendment ay para sa kapakinabangan ng mga Pilipino.

Mahalaga aniya sa pagnenegosyo ang kompetisyon dahil mapipilitan ang mga kompanya na pagbutihin ang serbisyo para makabenta.

Sinang-ayunan ni Deputy Speaker and Quezon Province Rep. David “Jayjay” Suarez ang mahalagang benepisyo ng kompetisyon para sa publiko.

“Competition breeds excellence. So if you want to have better products, better services, better employment opportunities, a better high-paying job for the Filipino people, we need to allow them (foreign investors) to come in,” sabi ni Suarez

“We also need to send a signal to the world, now the doors of the Philippines is open for more foreign direct investments to come in which will only bring more opportunities for the Filipino people,” saad pa nito.
