NAISAKATUPARAN na ng Kamara de Representantes ang mandato nito sa ilalim ng Konstitusyon nang ihain ang impeachment case laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte at nasa Senado na ngayon ang bola, ayon kay Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

“‘Yung sulat sa akin ni Senate President Chiz Escudero is pretty straightforward. Kaya ‘yung impeachment complaint ay nasa Senado na. So we leave it to their sound discretion as to how they want to proceed and conduct,” ani Speaker Romualdez sa panayam matapos pangunahan ang inagurasyon ng bagong multipurpose facility sa Kamara.

Nauna nang sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na kumilos ang Kamara alinsunod sa konstitusyonal nitong tungkulin bilang prosecutorial body, at handang iharap ang kaso kapag nag-convene na ang Senate impeachment court.

Kinilala rin ni Speaker Romualdez na may sariling legislative agenda ang Senado, kabilang ang pagsasaalang-alang sa mga prayoridad na panukala na itinakda sa ilalim ng Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).

“The Senate President outlined the priority measures like the LEDAC measures that they would like to prioritize first. So, we have to respect the decision of the Senate President and the Senate,” aniya.

“Well, as I said, the impeachment complaint has been transmitted to the Senate. So, it’s best we leave it to the sound discretion of the Senate on how they plan on disposing of it,” dagdag pa ni Speaker.

Nang tanungin tungkol sa posibleng mga kaganapan sa mga darating na linggo, sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na masyado pang maaga upang magbigay ng haka-haka ngunit umaasa siya sa isang positibo at makabuluhang resulta.

“Well, everything is speculative at this point. But we hope things resolve itself positively for all,” pagtatapos niya.

Pormal na ipinasa ng Kamara de Representantes sa Senado ang Articles of Impeachment noong Pebrero 5, matapos makita ng 215 kongresista ang ebidensiya laban kay VP Duterte na tumanggi na ipaliwanag kung papaano ginastos ang kaniyang confidential funds.
