BINABALANGKAS na ng Pilipinas ang pagpapadala ng durian sa New Zealand.

Ayon kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. mayroon nang negosasyon ngayon ang dalawang bansa para sa exportation ng tropical fruit.

Nagkaroon ng bilateral meeting si Pangulong Marcos kay New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon sa sidelines ng 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits sa Vientiane, Lao Peoples’ Democratic Republic.

“We are talking about right now (with) our appropriate ministries. Ours is the Department of Agriculture for the Philippines and the Ministry for Primary Industries in New Zealand. [They] are already in discussion on how to achieve this [durian export],” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

Sinabi naman ni Luxon na hindi lang ang kalakalan sa prutas ang kanilang Pinag-usapan ni Pangulong Marcos kundi maging ang usapin sa security, trade at economy.

“I think on the economic front, we’ve talked about onions and pineapples. Pineapples are coming to New Zealand, onions [are] going to the Philippines, I hope. So, I think we’ve made some good progress there,” pahayag ni Luxon.

Una nang hiniling ng New Zealand na magkaroon ng access sa sibuyas ng Pilipinas.

Tinalakay din ng dalawang lider ang bilateral agreements sa defense and military, environment, labor, air services, law enforcement para labanan ang transnational crimes, pati na ang work holiday scheme.

Sakop din ng agreements ang science and technology, geothermal cooperation, avoidance of double taxation, trade, at postal matters.
